Submission Guidelines

As of August 26, 2008, JaborWhalky.com is under new ownership. It appears that the previous owners had an accept all policy regarding submissions. We are currently reviewing all entries previously submitted. If your website listing  no longer shows up, it may have been moved to a more appropriate category, it may be inactive pending further review, or it may have been removed.

We anticipate that this review should be completed by October 15, 2008. If, after the review is completed, you are unable to find your listing, please re-submit your listing and make sure it is within the submission guidelines listed here.

Due to the large number of listings involved, answering queries regarding the status of a specific listing would only delay the entire review process.

Also, during this time, new submssions may take longer to approve or decline.

This review is to improve the quality of the backlinks you recieve from us. Numerous directories are approving links that should be declined, hurting the quality of their backlinks of all the sites they list.

We appologize in advance for any inconvienence this may cause.

Things that will get an automatic rejection for your website submission:

Spam submission - If you repeatedly spam the directory, your domain and IP address will be banned from further submissions - No Exceptions!

Wrong category - Do not submit to toplevel categories, and  make sure the category you submit to is accurate for the website being submitted. Approximately 20% of all declined submissions are due to submitting to the wrong category.

Submission to the most appropriate category/subcategory provides the best value for your links. The easiest way to find the appropriate subcategory is to browse the directory until you find an appropriate subcategory. Then select 'Submit Link' and that category will automatically be selected in the submission form.

All this falls under the simple rule, 'Submit your listing to the most appropriate category'. If you take the time to select the proper category, you will get the most benefit from your listing.

Submissions for websites promoting online gambling, pornography or other adult content, 'escort' services, online purchase of pharmaceutical drugs, or products which made dubious medical claims will not be accepted.

Poor quality title - Improper capitalization, spelling, keyword spam, or inaccurate/deceptive titles will be rejected.

Affiliate or redirecting URLs for are not allowed for regular or featured listings. Affiliate and redirecting links (for tracking purposes only) are allowed with paid advertising options - sitewide banner, sitewide text link, frontpage link, and category link. Redirecting links are allowed in the Bio box of articles for the purpose of tracking only, affiliate links are not allowed.

Poor quality or missing description - While the script does not require a description entry, all submissions that have no description will be immediately declined. Description must accurately describe your website in one to three complete English sentences. Improper capitalization, spelling, keyword spam, or inaccurate/deceptive descriptions will be rejected.

Duplicate submissions to different categories - If I see the exact same or nearly the same submission to several different categories, all submissions will be rejected. Submitting different pages within your website using a different title, description and category is acceptable so long as the submissions meet our quality guidelines.

Keyword spamming in either your description or title will be declined.

 Poor quality website - Yes, we actually look at every site submitted! If your website has little or no quality content, if it appears to be a 'turnkey' system website, 'Made for Adsense', regurgitated PLR,  if it is a parked or re-directed domain, it will be declined.

English listings and Website - We also request that all submissions be in English, and that the url links to a page in English, contains an obvious link to an English version of the page, or has an 'on the fly' page translation option. Our policy is if we can't read it, we won't approve it.

Guidelines for Specific submission types:

Ebooks
All free and paid ebook offers must be submitted to the 'Computers & Internet/Ebooks and Tutorials' category. This means that if you submit a highly targeted site for the purpose of getting the visitor to buy or download one or more ebooks, they must be submitted under this category.  Ebook Directory sites must submit to 'Computers & Internet/Web Directories/Niche Directories/eBook'. Also, the title of the ebook MUST be included in the description and the title.

Software and scripts
Must be submitted to 'Computers & Internet/Software' category, or to an appropriate subcategory on the branch. The only exceptions are directories - please submit to 'Computers & Internet/Web Directories/Niche Directories/Software'

Blogs
Blogs which are hosted on your own domain do not have to be submitted under the 'Computers & Internet/Blogs' category. Blogs which are hosted on blogger.com, blogspot.com, wordpress.com, squidoo.com, hubpages.com etc. MUST be submitted under 'Computers & Internet/Blogs' category.

All Blogs must have substantial, unique content. Blogs which appear to have scraped or private label article content will be removed. Blogs must also show at least one month of regular activity.

Directories

All website directories must be submitted under the 'Computers & Internet/Web Directories' branch of the directory.

Reciprocal Links:

Pages that are predominantly links with no description of the site, and a poor quality url are of little value as a true reciprocal backlink. The search engines are getting smarter all the time and these type of pages can hurt your rankings in the SE's.
 
If you are using poor quality link pages you should update your links pages with a description of each site, and improve the quality of the urls:

www.yourdomain.com/recommends/web-directories.html
www.yourdomain.com/partners/web-directories.html
www.yourdomain.com/likes/web-directories.html

I recommend avoiding the words 'Link', 'Links', 'Exchange' 'Backlink' and 'Reciprocal' in the url and in content of the pages.
 
Submissions which include a reciprocal link of substandard quality will be set to 'Inactive' until such time as a review of your website shows an improved reciprocal linking practice.

 DO NOT email requests for 'link exchanges'! If you supply a quality reciprocal link, and your listing passes our submission guidelines, your submission will be approved.

Article Submissions:

Don't submit an article unless you intend to pay the $10 review charge (unless you want your domain and IP banned). The review charge must be paid in advance, or your article will be deleted. If your article is not accepted, the review charge is not refundable. You will be notified, and your article will remain inactive, allowing you to edit and re-submit the article via email.

Only submit original, high quality, well written articles. If your article looks like a private label article or a quick re-write of someone else's article, your article will be rejected.

By submitting an article, you are also agreeing that other people can republish the article so long as the article is republished unmodified in it's entirety including the Bio box.

Paid Advertising:

All paid advertising is subject to review. If your listing for a paid spot is not accepted, the fee will be promptly refunded. The only exception to this rule is the $10 review charge for Article submission which is not refundable.

Update: September 23, 2008

General inquiries such as 'Why did you reject my listing?' will go  unanswered - please review the submission guidelines.

If you have a specific question regarding the submission guidelines, then we will attempt to clarify the guidelines and notify when we have updated this page.

This directory is receiving, on average, over 200 new submissions per day. Of those submissions approximately half are quickly rejected due to obvious failure to submit a good quality listing. Improper capitalization, spelling and grammar errors,  keyword spamming,  wrong category are the most typical problems with new listings.

For free submissions, we simply do not and will not take the time to edit and fix these problems. At an average of 100 per day of the listings we reject, it would take about five to six minutes per entry to fix these listings - about 10 hours total per day.

If you want us to fix your listing for you, then submit as a Featured Listing, and pay the $7 charge to do so. So long as your listing meets all other standards, we will then correct spelling and grammar errors, and properly categorize your listing. If your listing is primarily 'just a bunch of keywords' or your website is not the type of site we list, your listing will be rejected and the $7 charge refunded.

Our view is that we are providing a valuable service, for free in most cases. It is the responsibility of those who submit listings to this site to provide a good quality listing in the first place.

If your listing is rejected, please review the submission guidelines, correct any problems with your listing and resubmit.

All listings are subject to the discretion of the administration and editors of this directory. We reserve the right to modify, re-categorize, and remove any listing at any time without notice. By submitting to this directory you are agreeing to the terms of this document.
